Tracking character transformations. Estimated to take around 7-8 months.
Major Themes:
Skin changes
Mitsuru is going to be growing very pretty red and black scales (which she’ll nonetheless hate, and try to mask for as long as possible) starting along her arms and legs, and spreading along her back, shoulders, and hips.
Temperature Sensitivity
Gains an aversion to the cold (and being VERY confused by that!) plus being more receptive to warmth and sunlight.
Element Affinity
She’ll gain more affinity towards water than before, as well as control over it that mimics her old abilities; but now with a broader reach.
Limb changes
Eventually her legs will be fusing together and unifying with an extended spine to form a tail. Probably where the bulk of the body horror will be coming from.
Teeth changes
She’s going to be growing fangs! And those fangs can spit and inject venom! Of course I’m going to play around with that, not to mention the forked tongue bit.
June: Hints
+Slight skin sensitivity and aversion to touch.
+Mild temperature sensitivity; she’ll shiver more quickly at small drops in temperature and feel more comfortable in warmer areas. And find that the S.E.E.S. dog is very warm and comforting to touch.
+Elemental draw, will spend more time around water; fountains, harbor, rivers, etc. Swimming becomes a relaxing thing to do. Has mild control over water, in small amounts (a flask’s size) able to shape and direct. Mildly confused, since she doesn’t need an Evoker to use it. Control is weak/prone to mishaps, due to her lack of empathy and ability to “speak” to water.
+Tenderness in the feet. Sometimes walking or staying on them will feel oddly uncomfortable.
+Teeth and gum sensitivity; eating cold dishes is noticeably more difficult.
July: Emergence
+Skin sensitivity increases; a lot more rubbing at the arms, and feeling her skin alternately itch or almost wriggle, like there's something directly under her skin.
+Balance flickers in and out. Sometimes she'll stumble or have an embarrassing lapse in coordination.
+Building further on the June symptoms, and giving them a little more screen time.
August: Symptoms
+Skin peeling and shedding, with an odd toughness forming in spots along her arms and legs. New skin will also carry a slight sheen to it.
+Temperature sensitivity, will be more receptive to sunlight, frequently going to high locations in the mornings, and drawn to brightly lit areas all through the day. Because of this, skin peeling will be falsely associated with sunburns.
+Water association, will submerge her skin and limbs more often in water, finding both relief and feeling oddly energized from the contact. Control over water increases, with fewer errors; able to summon slightly larger amounts, and more effectively shape and direct. Beginning to build a rapport with element, but prone to sharp commands that can cause splashes and breakdowns.
+Limb problems; feet will be in significant pain after long walks, and the pain will spread up to her legs.
+Teeth lengthening, slightly more noticeable lengthening in the canines. Flashes of increased taste in the air; for a second she might pick out someone’s presence despite not seeing them, or gets a brief hint of an emotional state, based on chemicals/pheromones. Won’t be able to explain why.
September: Infections
+Scale growth, where the new skin patches gain scarlet and black pigment.
+Temperature lethargy, will be noticeably slower in mornings until warmed up. Will start seeking out heat sources, or even change her living arrangements so her room gets morning sun.
+Elemental draw, swimming and submersion in water is now a daily thing. Will be very agitated if kept away from water. Can now manipulate a gallon of water.
+Balance loss, legs will become difficult to stand on for long periods, and she’ll be more prone to stumbling. (And be mortified by that loss of poise.) Bruises will be more likely to form on legs, which are then replaced with more scales.
+Teeth; fangs begin to split off from her canines, forming their own fangs. Much less likely to show her teeth when she smiles. Tongue begins to fork, and picks up more on surroundings; flashes of information become much more frequent, and possibly overwhelming. Roof of the mouth also becomes more sensitive, due to formation of venom glands and shifting Jacobson’s organ.
October: Diagnosis
+Scale growth now fully runs from her arms and legs, and is growing along her back as well. Colors are vivid, and patterns are settling in.
+Temperature tolerance is getting much lower; contact with ice or extreme cold will leave her exhausted, and needing to seek out immediate warmth. More receptive to touch and body warmth.
+Elemental affinity, finds water control becoming second nature. Subconsciously might summon rain or similar weather effects.
+Limb growth, spine will begin lengthening, growing new segments. Basically gets the beginnings of a snake tail growing out. It aids in balance, but she grows much more fatigued when she stays on her feet.
+Teeth: fangs are fully formed, able to fold away. They begin to secrete venom. Tongue becomes forked, and she gains more nuance in her detection.
